SR du Dauphiné Gratiné
Ride around Grenoble, and visit the different massifs that surround the "Capital of the Alps": Chartreuse, Balcons de Belledonne, Chamrousse, Alpe du Grand Serre, Plateau Matheysin, Corniches du Drac, Trièves, Vercors, Terres Froides and Voironnais.
The route displays the incredible wealth of Grenoble's landscape heritage, without using the big passes (the highest passage is at 1721 meter altitude), and by staying on small, peaceful roads (even in summer).
The start place, Saint-Égrève, is located 7 km from the Grenoble train station. Saint-Égrève has a big office park, with several hotels. The finish photo control place is Voreppe, 9.5 km west of Saint-Égrève via the D1075 road (the road book indicates an alternative route of 13.5 km, via the bike path running along the banks of river Isère).
The route designer is a long-distance cyclist who knows perfectly the region: Hugues Rico has imagined a beautiful and challenging route, which he called Dauphiné Gratiné, in humoristic reference to the famous local dish gratin dauphinois. This Super Randonnée was opened in 2010.
